### What is Personal Care?

Personal care is for patients who are in need of additional assistance in their own homes. It does not replace home care or hospice care, but can be used in concert with these services.

  

  

### Personal Care Includes:

*   Reminding clients to take medications
*   Opening containers
*   Transferring
*   Personal grooming and dressing
*   Eating and meal preparation
*   Oral hygiene and denture care
*   Toileting and toilet hygiene
*   Bathing
*   Taking and recording temperatures and weights
*   Administering emergency first aid
*   Providing transportation in the client’s vehicle
*   Housekeeping
*   Respite care
*   Medication Management

### Where Does Personal Care Take Place?

Personal care takes place in the home, but can also be used to supplement care in other locations.

  

  

### Who Pays for Personal Care?

Typically, personal care is paid privately by the client or the family. There are Medicaid waivers, aging programs, and long term insurances who may pay as well.

  

  

### Admission to Personal Care

Admission will include a functional assessment and building a personalized plan of care. Upon admission, the patient will sign a service agreement and other standard forms. The patient and company can terminate services at any time.

  

  

### Rocky Mountain Care Givers

All Rocky Mountain Personal Care givers go through extensive background checks, TB testing, health screening, and continue to receive additional patient care training through the year. Personal Care is provided by our nurse assistants and personal care aids, depending on the individual needs of each patient.
